Colleen is an associate attorney at Atkins David LLC. Hardworking, personable and straight forward, Colleen believes communicating regularly and setting realistic expectations are essential to cultivating productive working relationships. She concentrates her practice in the area of workers’ compensation defense, representing employers, insurers, and third party administrators throughout Georgia.
Before practicing law, Colleen spent 13 years as a negotiator for Fortune 500 health insurance companies. As a negotiator, she became skilled at forming creative solutions to complex problems. Throughout her career, Colleen worked closely with hospitals, physicians and ancillary providers to de-escalate high-dollar disputes and negotiate settlements. Colleen’s extensive knowledge of the business of health care is an asset she leverages in her practice of law.
During law school, Colleen devoted much of her time to helping underserved individuals and communities gain access to justice. She developed and co-led the Rural Justice Alternative Spring Break where students traveled to legal deserts in South Georgia and assisted Daugherty County Law Library in creating self-help videos for pro se litigants. She proudly served as a graduate research assistant for the Georgia State University Veterans Legal Assistance Program, helping veterans with a variety of civil legal matters through limited representation. Under the Third-Year Practice Act, Colleen gained meaningful experience preparing and arguing motions on behalf of the state while interning at the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.
Colleen graduated, cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law. While there, she participated in Moot Court where she served as Vice President of Appellate Advocacy. Prior to law school, she received her B.A. from Rockford University. Colleen has completed 3 full marathons and several half marathons. As a recovering runner with a yoga problem, you can find Colleen enjoying a relaxing savasana at the her local studio.
